BERNIE -- J.D. Johnson, 73, of Bernie died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.
He was born Nov. 17, 1925, at Bernie, son of Oscar Samuel and Ina Sarah Cooper Johnson. He and Mabel M. Ross Edwards were married Nov. 21, 1961, at Bernie.
Johnson owned a restaurant in Bernie several years, and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three stepdaughters, Hester Robertson of Bernie, Sue Coram and Anna McGowen of Malden; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a grandson and a great-grandson.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Wiggins officiating. Burial will be in Bernie Cemetery, with military graveside rites.
