COMMERCE, Mo. -- J.D. Hanners, 88, of Commerce, formerly of Barlow, Ky., passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010, at his home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. COMMERCE, Mo. -- J.D. Hanners, 88, of Commerce, formerly of Barlow, Ky., passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010, at his home.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict.

Hanners worked as first mate with Dravo Barge line 38 years. He was a member of Arlington VFW and was of the Pentecostal belief.

Survivors include three daughters, Diana Sue Miller of Millersville, Linda Marie LeGrand of Oran, Mo., Wendy Lou Farrow of Jackson; two sons, David Leon "Buck" Hanners of Commerce, Johnny Jay Hanners of Union, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maude Moore Hanners; second wife, Thelma Brown Hanners; third wife, Lucile Sure Hanners; a son, Holbert Deon Hanners; and four sisters.

His parents were Frank and Minnie Cook Hanners.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service today at Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Arlington, Ky.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.
