EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for J.D. "Short" Grogan of East Prairie will be held today at 2 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Chapel. Pastors Larry Smith and Dave Bowden will officiate, with burial in East Prairie Memorial Park.

Grogan, 65, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Dorena, son of John and Elizabeth McBride Grogan. He and Patsy Hale were married April 29, 1975.

Grogan was a retired farmer, and member of Dorena Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Roger Grogan of Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters, Maribeth Whitaker and Jackie Givens of East Prairie; two brothers, M.L. "Mutt" Grogan of Dorena, Bill Grogan of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, Janette Carden and Edna Crenshaw of East Prairie, and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers.
