SIKESTON, Mo. -- John D. "J.D." Eddy, 83, of Sikeston died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Hunter Acres Caring Center.
He was born Dec. 17, 1917, in Atkins, Ark., son of William O. and Lydia Venis Eddy. He and Margaret Graham were married May 26, 1945, in Norfolk, Va.
Eddy retired after 20 years as a boatswain mate chief in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and served on the battleship USS Mississippi in the Pacific Theatre and also on the Mayrant Destroyer in the Atlantic Theatre.
He was a farmer, and member of Shady Acres Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janet Doty of West Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Louise Mainord of Matthews, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with Pat Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
