HOWARD, Ohio -- J.D. Andrews Sr., 83, of Howard and formerly of Delta, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at Laurels Nursing Center at Mount Vernon, Ohio.
He was born March 2, 1917, in Cape Girardeau County, son of Herman and Eula Helderman Andrews. He and Syble "Vina" Hester were married April 25, 1941. She died Dec. 23, 1982. He then married Frances Kolthoff on Dec. 28, 1984.
Andrews was a retired master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, having served in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Chaffee, Mo., and belonged to the Delta Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Jim Andrews of Delta; two daughters, Frances Hannah of Cuba, Mo., and Rusolyn Andrews of Nevada, Mo.; a stepson, Alvin Kolthoff of San Francisco, Calif.; four stepdaughters, Marlene Crowell of Ulysses, Pa., Frieda Richmond of Howard, Lorali Swett of Elyria, Ohio, and Greta Kolthoff; two sisters, Alma Galamore of Staunton, Ill., and Zalma Becker of Ironton, Mo.; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Chaffee.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church at Chaffee, with the Rev. Michael Hannah officiating. Burial will follow at Kenyon Cemetery at Delta.
