Jay Purcell

MIDDLEBROOK, Mo. — With heavy hearts, the family of Jay Christopher Purcell announces his passing on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, in Middlebrook at the age of 54.

He was born Nov. 26, 1967.

After he retired, he loved spending time with his wife, Kelly, at the farm, playing with his grandkids and hiking at Hawn State Park.

Jay was an incredibly loving person and will be missed by so many. There aren't words that could be strung together to depict him and do him justice. Even if Alden Whitman wrote this, it truly wouldn't hold a candle to Jay.

His family would like him remembered for his love of Tom Petty, especially the song "I Won't Back Down"; his love of politics, being the voice of the people for so many years; and, lastly, leading with integrity and love in everything he did.

He is survived by his mother and father, Judy and Larry Purcell; brother, Andy Purcell; wife, Kelly Purcell, and their four children, Austin, Miranda, Dayton and Reece Purcell; and grandchildren, Aaliyah Purcell, Avery Schwab and Finley Schwab.
