EAST PRAIRIE -- Jasper Easter, 75, of Charleston, formerly of Anniston, died Friday, Aug. 23, 1996, at St. Bernard Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. He was born June 3, 1921, in Anniston, son of Virgie Easter Ivie. Easter was a member of the Anniston Baptist Church. He was a member of the VFW Post in Charleston and a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He worked in the grain and cotton business in Mississippi County until his retirement...

EAST PRAIRIE -- Jasper Easter, 75, of Charleston, formerly of Anniston, died Friday, Aug. 23, 1996, at St. Bernard Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark.

He was born June 3, 1921, in Anniston, son of Virgie Easter Ivie.

Easter was a member of the Anniston Baptist Church. He was a member of the VFW Post in Charleston and a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He worked in the grain and cotton business in Mississippi County until his retirement.

He married Hope Sterling on Jan. 31, 1944. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Jackie Easter of East Prairie and Bobby Sterling of Charleston; three daughters, Ruth Ann Ivie of Charleston, Becky Manker of Cairo, Ill., and Judy Hall of East Prairie; a brother, Martin Easter of Karnak, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Shelby Funeral Chapel at East Prairie, with the Rev. Gerald Collier officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m today at the funeral home.
