EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Janie Bell Edwards of East Prairie was held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie.
The Rev. James Bolden officiated and burial was in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Edwards died Thursday at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was 79.
She was born Jan. 12, 1912 in Tennessee, the daughter of the late Frank and Annie Campbell Webb. On June 10, 1932, she married Osie Lee Edwards, who preceded her in death May 11, 1977.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers, a daughter and a grandchild.
She was a resident of Mississippi County most of her life and was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in East Prairie.
Survivors include a son, Robert Lee Edwards of Bowling Green, Ky.; four daughters, Faye Reynolds of Ferguson, Pat Whittington of Wolf Island, Sharon Moore of East Prairie and Larue Howlett of Bertrand; a brother, Richard Webb of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Hattie Mae Cubic of New Orleans, La.; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Friday evening at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
