Janice Marie Payton, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Advance, Missouri, to James Thomas and Ethel Hendrickson Livers. She first married George Willard Kelley, who passed away in 1968. She and Karl Payton were married May 17, 1974, at St. Louis.
Janice owned and operated "Janice's Beauty Shop" in three different locations through the years. She worked at Thorngate Manufacturing in Cape Girardeau four years and Jackson Bait and Tackle over four years, where her specialty was her famous "Wes Burgers."
She loved and served her family while serving the Lord all her life.
She was a member of Old St. Vincent's Church.
Her loving survivors include her husband, Karl Payton of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Georgia Segraves of Cape Girardeau; sister Ettadean Stephens of Advance, Missouri; grandson, Kelley Segraves of Cape Girardeau; granddaughter, Katherine "Katie" Segraves of Cape Girardeau; great-grandson, Wyatt Segraves; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Segraves of Cape Girardeau. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with parish prayers and rosary at 7 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Old St. Vincent's Church in downtown Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Advance.
Memorial contributions may be given to Old St. Vincent's Church or the family of Janice Payton.
