Janice Ruth Dollar Jones, 82, of Cape Girardeau died peacefully Monday, April 16, 2018, at the home of her daughter.
She was born Oct. 26, 1935, in Tippah County, Mississippi, to Sam and Mary Alsup Dollar, the youngest daughter of 13 children.
She was married to James Kyle, who is now deceased. She later married Franklin Jones, who also preceded her in death.
Janice was a 1953 graduate of Gray Ridge High School in Gray Ridge, Missouri.
She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she was active with J.O.Y. Ministry Group.
Janice had a strong connection to her family. She maintained a close relationship throughout her life with her siblings and extended family members. Grandma J especially loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Her hobbies included crocheting and going to yard and estate sales. Her home was a constant rotation of furniture and knickknacks.
Survivors include a son, Kelly (Pam) Kyle of Oran, Missouri; a daughter, Rita (Steven) Keele of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Darryl Dollar of Post Falls, Idaho; a sister, Dorothy Dollar McDonald of Chino Hills, California; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Will) Rogers, Kraig (Jin) Kyle, Lee Schlitt, Kara (Nathan) Dirnberger, Annah (Nick) Voshage and Klayton (Kelsey) Kyle; 11 great-grandchildren, Gavin, Keaton, Kailee, Liam, Cooper, Tucker, Saylor, Briley, Amelia, Caroline and Hudson; and a neighbor, sister-in-law and best friend, Anna Jean Koon of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers, Cleveland, Raymond, Mitchell, Kermit, Ralph, Boyce, Robert and Thomas Dollar; and two sisters, Pauline Russell and Lucille Rosier.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Dr. Shawn Wasson and Janice's nephew, the Rev. Gary Dollar, officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Make-A-Wish Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
