Leta Janice Hoffmeister, 89, of Jackson died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at Jackson Manor.
She was born Oct. 6, 1925, in Oak Ridge, daughter of Ray H. and Tileta Reid Engler. She married Emanuel Hoffmeister on May 2, 1965, in Perryville, Missouri. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1982.
Janice was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University. She was a familiar face in uptown Jackson, where she enjoyed many years working with Joe Gohn and his staff at the Farmers Insurance office. She was a lifelong member of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church and a member of Oak Ridge Homemakers Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Though she had no siblings, Janice was loved as a sister by her cousins and many good friends.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Old Goshen Cemetery at Oak Ridge.
Memorial donations may be made to Old Goshen Cemetery Association through the funeral home.
