SIKESTON, Mo. -- Janice Edmiston, 92, of Ellisville, Mo., died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Bethesda Meadow Nursing Home in Ellisville.
She was born July 8, 1912, at Morley, Mo., daughter of Henry Franklin and Ollie Mae Smith Emerson. She and Francis Smith Edmiston were married Sept. 25, 1932. He preceded her in death.
Edmiston was a graduate of Morley High School, Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Missouri-Columbia. She was formerly of Sikeston.
She was a social worker 27 years with Missouri Division of Family Services, and was affiliated 10 years with social services in Oklahoma. She returned to Sikeston and retired in 1978.
Edmiston was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, member of Morley VFW Auxiliary 5368, Eagles Aerie Auxiliary 3319 of Sikeston and Morley General Federated Women's Club.
Survivors include a son, Franklin Edmiston of Ballwin, Mo.; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel after 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Harold Norton officiating. Private burial will be in Old Morley Cemetery.
