Janet C. Matthews, 77, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004.
She was born Oct. 14, 1927, in St. Louis, daughter of William Arthur and Wavel Clark. She and Thurman F. "Doc" Matthews were married Aug. 8, 1948, in Cape Girardeau.
Janet graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1948.

Survivors include her husband; five children, Gail (Ken) Kailing of Seattle, Wash., Guy (Sandy) Matthews of Reedsburg, Wis., Lee (Bob) Watson of Cape Girardeau, Lois (Mike) Geary of Howards Grove, Wis., Art Matthews of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
