SIKESTON -- Janet Faye Helmes, 49, of Sikeston died Saturday, June 8, 1996, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Oct. 21, 1946, in Sikeston to Martha Melinda Oliver Hodges, who survives of Sikeston, and the late James E. "Mush" Hodges.

A 1964 graduate of Sikeston High School, she had been owner and operator of Helmes Quick Sack for the past 25 years.

On April 2, 1964, she married Jerry W. Helmes in Sikeston. He survives.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by a son, Clinton Helmes of Sikeston; a daughter, Jerri Linda Cruse of Sikeston; a brother, Glen Hodges of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Pat Higdon, Carol Jane Riley and Mary "Dotsie" Headlee, all of Sikeston; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, with Dr. Thomas Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
