Jane A. Morrill, 56, passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
She was born March 3, 1955, at St. Joseph, Mo., to William K. and Gladys C. Hartmann Wedekind.
Jane lived in numerous locations throughout Missouri, touching the lives of those around her wherever she went. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor of science degree in nursing, and earned a master's degree in hospital administration from Southeast Missouri State University. Notably, she obtained her second degree while raising four children and working full time as director of nursing at a hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
A multitalented woman, she punctuated her distinguished 30-plus-year career by also briefly serving as economic developer/museum director for the Doniphan Neighborhood Assistance Program. For a time she also ran her own catering business called Celebrations, which played upon her excellent hosting and entertaining skills. Jane had an innate ability to make any person feel at home.
She is survived by her loving husband of seven years, Patrick J. Morrill of the home; four children, Jennifer Johnson and husband Aaron Todd and their children, Mic Kelly, Charles Johnson and William Johnson, all of Kansas City, Rebecca Fox of Cairo, Egypt, Katherine Fox of St. Louis, Connor Fox of Galveston, Texas; her mother, Gladys C. Wedekind of Oregon, Mo.; two stepchildren, Mason Morrill and Jennifer Morrill of Kansas City; a brother, Kim Wedekind and wife Sharon of Savannah, Mo.; two brothers-in-law, Mike Morrill, Robert Morrill and wife Jenay, all of Overland Park, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Maureen Liggett and husband Scott of Overland Park; her former companion's children, Cindy Kneale of Oregon, Mo., John Kneale of Nashville, Tenn.; her former husband and father of her children, Dr. R. Eugene Fox of Doniphan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and countless friends. She will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her dear father, William Kim Wedekind, and a former companion, Ben Joe Kneale.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to time of service Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The Rev. Don Kuehle will officiate at a memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Zion Methodist Cemetery in Gordonville.
Jane's life will be commemorated today in Kansas City with a visitation and memorial Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Arrangements by Porter Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
