CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Jane Y. Beard Halter, 89, of Charleston died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
She was born Dec. 4, 1911, at Charleston, daughter of Walter and Lurlyne Moore Beard. She and Linus A. Halter were married May 30, 1943. He died March 14, 1972.
Halter lived in Stoddard and Mississippi counties all her life. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. She taught for more than 20 years at St. Henry's Catholic School before retiring.
Survivors include a daughter, Becky Barnhill of Harrisburg, Ill.; a sister, Jean Nea of Charleston; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Gerald Brown officiating.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Henry Catholic Church. The Revs. Mike Swalina and David Coon will officiate, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
