Jane M. Bodine, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, at her home at Chateau Girardeau. She was born Saturday, Jan. 18, 1930, in Cape Girardeau to Erwin Frederick and Neva Brandon Mehrle. She and William "Bill" Bodine were married Sept. 3, 1949, in Jackson. Jane M. Bodine, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, at her home at Chateau Girardeau.

She was born Saturday, Jan. 18, 1930, in Cape Girardeau to Erwin Frederick and Neva Brandon Mehrle. She and William "Bill" Bodine were married Sept. 3, 1949, in Jackson. He preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1991.

Jane was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School and attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri.

She owned and operated The Novelty Shop, which became Bodine's Gift Shop.

She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a board member of VIP Industries and volunteered over 20 years at Saint Francis Medical Center, where she formerly had been acknowledged as Volunteer of the Year. Additionally, she volunteered with FISH Food Pantry.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Bodine of Cape Girardeau, Mark (Marta) Bodine of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, and Stephen Bodine of St. Louis; a daughter, Martha (Cord) Polen of Cape Girardeau; two granddaughters, Sarah Polen (Brad Main) of Chicago and Emily Polen of Cape Girardeau; and a great-grandson, James Alan Main.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
