Jamie Jae Pierce, 55, of Cape Girardeau went to be with the Lord peacefully Sunday, July 14, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born June 2, 1964, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Bobbie and Jim Pierce. She was the older of two children.

Jamie graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1982.

She served in the U.S. Army as a tactical satellite systems operator in the late 1980s. After discharge, she worked many years in the health care industry and managed bookkeeping departments for several business entities. She enjoyed serving and assisting the elderly and disabled and was an avid pet lover.

She is survived by her parents, Bobbie J. Pierce and Jim A. Pierce of Cape Girardeau; brother and sister-in-law, Rhett and Christy Pierce, along with niece, Bradyn and nephews, Deklin and Gavin; four uncles, Johnny Vavak of Cape Girardeau, Dallas Pierce of Kalamazoo, Michigan, David Pierce of Lansing, Michigan, and Mike Masterson of Cape Girardeau; and five aunts, Karen "Buckie" Ervin of Cape Girardeau, Nora Bertrand of Warren, Michigan, Kay Pierce of Lansing, Brenda Pierce of Kalamazoo and Glenda Masterson of Cape Girardeau. Her best friend and cousin, Sheree Volkerding, along with cousin Johnny Vavak were both at her bedside as she transitioned to her resting place with the Lord.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

A memorial service will follow at noon Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Missouri Veterans Home of Cape Girardeau or the Humane Society.
