SIKESTON -- James Edward Woods, 68, of Sikeston, died Friday, July 26, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Alabama, son of William and Velma Johnson Woods.
Woods had lived in Missouri since 1965. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie; five sons, Deon Turner of Sikeston, Michael Booker of North Chicago, Ill., Tony Booker of Kansas City, DeWayne Booker of Atlanta, Ga., Sgt. Derrick Booker with the U.S. Army in Savannah, Ga.
He is also survived by eight daughters, Kimberly Booker of the home, Barbara Herron, Beverly Stewart and Pamela Wiggins of Sikeston, Annette Cotton of Cape Girardeau, Sandra Booker of Waukegan, Ill., Sharon Scott of Tulsa, Okla., Vivian Booker of Schererville, Ind.; a brother, Walter Woods of Sikeston; 27 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John Baptist Church, with the Rev. Flem Bronner Sr. officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill.
Friends may call Thursday at the church from noon to service time.
