James Tilley
James Henry Tilley, 66, of Hartselle, Ala., died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at his home.
He was born May 29, 1942, in Cape Girardeau, son of Samuel and Anne English Tilley. He and Patricia Johnson were married Jan. 23, 1999, in Cape Girardeau.
Tilley was employed by the city of Cape Girardeau as an engineer and chief construction inspector from 1975 to January 2001, then part time until 2005.
He was a member of La Croix United Methodist Church, St. Mark's Masonic Lodge 93, Cape Council 20, Cape Commandery 55 KT, Wilson Chapter 75 RAM, Calvary Shrine and Order of Eastern Star 67. He volunteered at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two sons, Christopher (Debbie) Tilley of Riverview, Fla., Kyle Swallow of Mountain Home, Ark; a daughter, Lauri (Jon) Hammontree of Hartselle; a niece, Tracy (Kevin) Davied of Sikeston, Mo., and their children Spencer and Sydney; and two grandchildren, Benjamin Tilley and Kayla Hammontree.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Rebecca Yuenger and Lena Henley.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be held at 7.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rob Mehner officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance, Mo.
Memorials may be made to Southeast Hospice, 10 Doctors Park, or St. Mark's Masonic Lodge 93.
