James Luke John Steinnerd, 54, of Jackson died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at Promedica Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
Born Aug. 28, 1964, in Cape Girardeau, he was the son of Melvin and Rita Kirn Steinnerd.
James was a graduate of Leopold (Missouri) High School and explored the nation as a heavy equipment operator. In his spare time, James was an amateur Crown Royal enthusiast and NASCAR fan. His favorite pastime was to take his son hunting and exploring. James enjoyed the small things in life and exploring the national landmarks.
James is survived by his son, Jon Steinnerd (Julianne Thomas); his father, Melvin Steinnerd; five sisters, Sarah Steinnerd, Bertha Steinnerd, Vicki (Owen) Scherer, Lisa (Tony) Cook and Nancy Steinnerd; and three brothers, Tim Steinnerd, Steven (Debbie) Steinnerd and David Steinnerd.
His mother and a brother, Lewis, predeceased him.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 6 at St. John Catholic Church at Leopold
Memorial Mass will be at noon Oct. 6 at the church, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Inurnment will follow in Indiana at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to offset the funeral expenses.
