James R. Skinner, 86, of Jackson died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 14, 1916, at Oran, Mo., to Harry and Bertha Clingingsmith Skinner.
Skinner was a former resident of Oak Ridge, Mo., and moved to Jackson in 1952. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army from April 1942 to January 1946. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson and was active in the Bus Ministry for many years.
Survivors include three brothers, Ray and Warren Skinner of Jackson and Joe Skinner of Mesa, Ariz., and two sisters, Daisy Niswonger of Cape Girardeau and Mary Walters of Louisville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. An American Legion service will be at 7 p.m.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Russell Heights Cemetery. The Rev. Brian Anderson will officiate.
