MATTHEWS, Mo. -- Funeral for James Edward "Jim" Sifford of Matthews was held Monday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Mo. The Revs. Ron Dunivan and Kasten Countz officiated. Burial was in Lick Creek Cemetery.
Sifford, 79, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
He was born Dec. 18, 1921, at Bloomfield, son of Ed and Lelia Crain Sifford.
Sifford lived most of his adult life in the Sikeston community. He was employed 30 years with Missouri Department of Transportation.
A sergeant in the U.S. Army, he was a mine sweep during World War II.
Survivors include two sisters, Lois Andrew of Matthews and Louise Coburn of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
