James R. Sides, 64, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Oct. 12, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, son of J. O. and Emma Harris Sides. He and Mary Kay Hart were married Aug. 6, 1962, in Senatobia, Miss.

Sides was district manager of Commercial Credit Corp. in Jefferson City, Mo. In 1972 he opened Cape Mobile Home Mart Inc. as co-owner with Morris Montgomery. The company grew to 23 dealerships with several hundred employees. The business continued until 1991.

He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the administrative council, and was a Sunday school teacher of God's Helpers 15 years.

Sides was a member of Jackson Trail Riders, and Southeast Missouri State University Alumni Board. He was an avid horseman, hunter, fisherman and farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Sides of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Becky and John Harding of Cape Girardeau, Amy and Todd Buffington of Cape Girardeau; his father, J.O. Sides of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Donna and Michael Price of Cape Girardeau, Mary Ann and Ron Wyatt of Greensboro, N.C., Vicki Clarke of Louisville, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Anne and Taylor Dial of Cape Girardeau; a brother-in-law, Tom and Bev Hart of Manchester, Mo.; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Harris Sides, and mother and father-in-law, Lela and Harry Hart.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.

The funeral will be at Centenary United Methodist Church Sunday at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Jeff Long officiating.
