SIKESTON, Mo. -- James Phillip Saulter, 82, of St. Charles, Mo., formerly of Sikeston, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles.
He was born May 27, 1924, in Dublin, Texas, son of James Perry and Lillie Mae Ellenberg Saulter. He and Edith Christine Davis were married Oct. 14, 1941, in New Madrid, Mo.
Saulter worked more than 45 years at Reiss Dairy and Turner Dairy in Sikeston. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Sikeston, and a member of Southeast Missouri Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James Saulter of DeSoto, Mo.; a daughter, Sharon Ayers of St. Charles; six sisters, Varna Cagle and June Eastwood of Sikeston, Verda Tinsley of Charleston, Mo., Verna Lyons of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jeanne Dixon of St. George, Utah, Holly Causey of Kokomo, Ind.; a stepbrother, Gene Cagle of Cape Girardeau; five grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Private graveside service with full military honors will be held Friday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
