James “Rick” Phillips, son of Katherine “Granny” Bacchus Phillips of Chaffee and the late Sherman Vick Phillips, was born Jan. 20, 1950, in Elgin, Illinois, and departed his life Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 74.
Rick was a former welder with CTS for many years and former employee of Heartland Supportive Living. He was a member of Powerhouse of God Church in East Prairie and resident of Benton.
He was united in marriage to Tammy Singlenton in 1991 at Benton. She survives of the home in Benton.
Besides his mother and wife, he is survived by one son, Kelly (Amy) Phillips of Oran; one daughter, Cathryn (Mike) Gramlisch of Jackson; one brother, Rodney Phillips of Oran; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren;
Besides his father, Rick was preceded in death by two sons, James Allen Phillips and Bobby Gene Phillips; one brother, Larry Phillips; and one sister, Pamela Melissa Pobst.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.
Funeral will then be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, with the Rev. Jimmy Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Williams Cemetery in Perkins.
