DEXTER -- James A. Pierce, 75, of Dexter died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at Methodist Hospital Central in Memphis, Tenn.
He was born Dec. 20, 1923, in Jamestown, Ky., son of J.W. and Lola Pierce. He and Frances Enteman were married Jan. 20, 1950, in Piggott, Ark.
Pierce was formerly of Illinois and St. Louis, moving to Dexter in 1992. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, James Rue and John Rue of St. Louis; three daughters, Linda Rieverts of Dudley, Mary Ann Pierce and Mary Ellen Hoffman of Dexter; two brothers, Al Pierce of Hartford, Ill., Don Pierce of Washington; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, a grandson, a sister, and three brothers.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 3-4 p.m. Sunday.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, with Richard Hensley officiating.
