James Richard Perry, 76, of Whitewater died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at his home. He was born April 17, 1947, in Cape Girardeau to Jesse Woodrow and Kirllian Putz Perry. James Richard Perry, 76, of Whitewater died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at his home.

He was born April 17, 1947, in Cape Girardeau to Jesse Woodrow and Kirllian Putz Perry. He and Wanda Moore were married Dec. 25, 1963, in Gordonville. He later married Lucy K. Spann on Nov. 13, 1999, in Cape Girardeau.

James worked for Procter & Gamble and Spartech.

He enjoyed woodworking, his pigeons and making knives. He was proud of his Native American heritage.

Survivors include six daughters, Cynthia Gilder of Victoria, Texas, Shelia Perry of Cape Girardeau;, Tereasa (Lynn) Alley of Fruitland, Darla (Charlie) Sallee of Oran, Missouri, Melissa Rolan of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Rebecca (Bradley) Bryant of Glen Allen, Missouri; son, Robert Dorris of Perryville, Missouri; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and six great-great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy K. Perry; parents, Jesse and Kirllian Perry; three sisters; one brother; three sons-in-law, Herbie Gilder, Shawn Rolan and Shawn Bigham; and a grandchild, Amanda Bigham.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later time.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
