James L. O'Connor, 82, of High Ridge, Mo., formerly of Whitewater, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008.
He was born Feb. 13, 1926.
Loving husband of Vivian Huffman O'Connor for 64 years; dear father of Maggie (Ron) Wimmer, Kathy Bywater, James (Yvonne) O'Connor Jr., William (Karen) O'Connor, Bonnie (Scot) Vaughn; beloved grandfather of Michelle (Gregory) Guthrie, James (Jennifer) O'Connor III, Patrick O'Connor, Brian (Andella) O'Connor, Laura O'Connor, Megan and Morgan Vaughn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard William and Margaret Porter O'Connor; stepmother, Blanche Zickert O'Connor; two brothers, Garnett (Violet) O'Connor and Edward (Eva surviving) O'Connor.
Mr. O'Connor served with distinction in World War II with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the European Theater.
After many years in the home building business, Mr. O'Connor founded Huntington Builders and Antire Real Estate Co. He had been an active member, deacon and Sunday school teacher of First Baptist Church in Delta, and was active in many organizations.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill, Mo. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
