James Clyde McGinnis, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 5, 1932, in Springfield, Missouri, to Clyde and Clara Ann (Wheeler) McGinnis.
James retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant after 21 years of service. Upon retirement from the military, he was employed at Southeast Missouri State University.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Jeannine McGinnis of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Larry McGinnis of Jackson and James (Tracy) McGinnis of Jefferson City, Missouri; three sisters, Naomi Deford of Springfield and Connie Dutton and Marion Labbee, both of Fair Grove, Missouri; three grandchildren, Megan McGinnis of Baltimore, Cailin McGinnis of Jackson and Connor McGinnis of South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private entombment will take place at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri, the Friends of Saint Francis or a charity of choice.
