James E. McDowell, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 20, 1928, in Brownwood, Mo., to Earnest and Ada Osborne McDowell.
He and Sandra Schearf were married July 17, 1981, in the San Fernando Valley, Calif.
James worked at Lemming Lumber Co. for 26 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra McDowell of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Wayne McDowell of Cape Girardeau and Ronnie McDowell of Farmington, Mo.; a daughter, Kay Bledsoe of Jonesboro, Ill.; a stepson, Daniel Hager of Scott City; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers and sisters; and a stepson, James Hager.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. at the chapel, with the Rev. Donnie Ford officiating.
Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
