James Lyle McClanahan, 54, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Sept. 12, 1968, in Cape Girardeau to James Laverl (Janet) McClanahan and Gloria (Warren) Mecham.
He graduated from Cape Central High School in 1986. He played trombone in the band and was a school photographer.
James enjoyed a career in car sales, including his most memorable in Arizona. Lately, he worked as an online broadcaster. His friends agree he was definitely a funny guy and had an irreverent sense of humor. He could pull a room back with a well-timed joke. He could give truly good advice or know when to just listen; he was an excellent conversationalist. It was great to just be able to hang out and talk.
Survivors include his parents; stepmother, Jan McClanahan; sister, Kathleen (Douglas) Dickason; nephew, Steven Dickason; and niece, Victoria Dickason.
A public visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at the funeral home.
Because of this unexpected death, the family is so very grateful for every donation during this difficult time.
