James Olen Malone, 58, of Jackson died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Oct. 14, 1947, in Oak Ridge, son of James O. and Vernia L. Eldridge Malone.
Malone served in the Army during the Vietnam War and received three Purple Hearts with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He was a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of New Savannah Baptist Church in Blodgett, Mo., and past member of VFW Post 3838.
He is survived by a son, James O. Malone III and wife, Traci, of Fruitland; a daughter, Michelle R. Bogenpohl and husband, Darin, of Jackson; a son, Justin William Malone of Bowling Green, Ky.; a stepson, Gregory A. Baker of Jackson; a stepdaughter, Chief Petty Officer Laura K. Baker of Richmond, Maine; three sisters, Mary Jane Cook and husband, Roger, of Bloomington, Ill., Francis Jo Skaggs of Mount Pulaski, Ill., Amanda Traywick of Orlando, Fla.; three brothers, Tom Dabbs of East Peoria, Ill., Cleve Dabbs of Mattoon, Ill., Jack Malone of Pascagoula, Miss.; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and an aunt and uncle, Jane and Dorse Sneed, who raised him.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home today from 4 to 8 p.m.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military rites by Missouri Honor Team.
