James "Wedge" Lorberg, 73, of Jackson died at 6 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020, at his residence. He was born April 30, 1947, in Cape Girardeau to Carlton and Amanda Joyce Lorberg. James "Wedge" Lorberg, 73, of Jackson died at 6 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020, at his residence.

He was born April 30, 1947, in Cape Girardeau to Carlton and Amanda Joyce Lorberg.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era.

Wedge worked in the family businesses, Lorberg Funeral Home and Lorberg Appliance. He worked for 24 years as greens keeper at Bent Creek Golf Course.

He loved dirt biking, vintage cars and boating on Current River. Wedge was an avid Cardinals fan, especially Stan Musial. During the Mark McGwire era, he and Ken Seabaugh went to 31 out of 81 home games. He also enjoyed traveling to the beach with friends, Fred and Jennie Christian.

He is survived by cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joseph Lorberg in 2017.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside service and inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cape County Memorial Park with the Rev. Elijah Allen officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy burial team and area veterans.
