Funeral for James Edgar Lewis of DeSoto will be held at 11 a.m. today at First Freewill Baptist Church in DeSoto. The Revs. Charles Miller and Bob Thebeau will officiate, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery at DeSoto.
Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in DeSoto is in charge of arrangements.
Lewis, 83, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis County.
He was born Jan. 21, 1915, in London, Ky., son of Leander and Nellie Belle Johnson Lewis. He married the former Norma J. Crawford.
Lewis was a retired farmer, and member of First Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Phyllis Wood of Cape Girardeau, Audrey Pierce of Destin, Fla.; two sons, Tony Lewis of Pacific, Terry Lewis of DeSoto; four brothers, Nay, Edsel, George and Elzie Lewis, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sisters, Florence Graham of Terre Haute, Ind., Mary Jones and Susie Hedges of Lebanon, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
