James R. Lansmon, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, July 29, 2019, at Lutheran Home.
He was born May 4, 1926, in Chaffee, Missouri, to George and Catherine Fagan Lansmon. He and Edith Matthews were married Jan. 29, 1949, at Hernando, Mississippi.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He received a bachelor's degree in finance from Saint Louis University, graduating in 1948.
He was a longtime member of Cape Girardeau Exchange Club and Cape Country Club. He retired from Union Electric as a vice president and treasurer in 1984. He was on the board of directors at Saint Francis Medical Center from 1974 to 1998. He also served on the board of directors of SEMO Council of Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Order of the Arrow, receiving the Silver Beaver medal in 1982.
He was a member of Old St. Vincent's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; son, William Lansmon of Lewisville, Texas; two daughters, Kathryn (Larry) Pickett of St. Louis and Theresa Mitchell of Belleville, Illinois; five grandchildren, Erin Lansmon (Christian) Winter, William (Emily) Lansmon, Laura Lansmon, Thomas Mitchell and Sarah Mitchell; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Sebastian Winter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Jimmy Lansmon; daughter, Patricia Lansmon; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Culpepper.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with parish prayers at 7 p.m., today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Old St. Vincent's Catholic Church in downtown Cape Girardeau. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, with full military honors by the Missouri Honor Team.
Memorial contributions may be given to Old St. Vincent's Catholic Church and Southeast Missouri Chapter of Boy Scouts of America.
