James L. Timmerman, 69, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, June 17, 1994, at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 22, 1925, at Poplar Bluff, son of Milford L. Timmerman and Lusettia Ellis Timmerman.
He married Patricia Heisserer on May 7, 1960, at Cape Girardeau. She survives.
He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Mary's,
Timmerman served two years in the U.S. Air Corps, from 1943-1945. He was a prison of war six months in Danzig, Poland, before being liberated by the Russian Army. He later served at Toretta Air Force Base in Toretta, Italy. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and Military comptroller Society.
He was a graduate of Williamsville, Mo. High School, and attended Southeast Missouri State University, and Northwestern University at Evanston, Ill. He was a graduate of the National Tax Training School in Monsey, N.Y., and worked in accounting 26 years.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Scott Timmerman of Cape Girardeau, and David Brian Timmerman of Woodland Hills, Calif.; a daughter, Lisa Anne Gregor, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three brothers, Robert Timmerman of Evansville, Ind., Marvin Timmerman of Mesquite, Tex., and Ellis Timmerman, Clyde Ohio; five sisters, Hettie Smith, Upland, Calif., Loretta Bilbrey, Mesquite, Tex., Burnitta Sanderson, Hazelwood, Mo., Joe Tinker, Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Judy Courtney, St. Louis; and one grandchild.
Service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, with Msgr. Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. VFW Post 3838, will provide a VFW ceremony at the cemetery.
Friends may call at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Parish prayers will be conducted Sunday at 7:30 at the funeral home.
