James L. "Jim" Chandler, 70, of Bernie died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Dexter Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 22, 1929, at Augusta, Ark., son of James H. and Allene Simmons Chandler. He and Mary Lou Aaron were married Jan. 14, 1950, at Pocahontas, Ark.
Chandler was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of Elliston Baptist Church in Memphis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; one son, John James Chandler of Brentwood, Tenn.; one daughter, Lisa Allene Roberts of Memphis; one sister, Alpha Jean Jordan of Bartlett, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.
Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Masters officiating. Burial will be in Bernie Cemetery.
