James Parker Kyle, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, May 15, 2017, after a brief stay at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 3, 1932, in Harden County, Tennessee, to Otis Bain and Delois Northcutt Kyle.

James had been both a wholesale and retail grocer.

He operated Kyle Foods grocery stores for over 30 years in Oran, Morley, Bell City and Scott City, Missouri.

He was a member of the Oran Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club, where he served as president.

He was a volunteer auxiliary policeman in Oran.

He loved watching the Cardinals play baseball but loved watching his great-grandkids' Little League games just as much.

Survivors include a son, Kelly (Pam) Kyle of Oran; daughter, Rita (Steven) Keele of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Monte (Carolyn) Kyle of Cape Girardeau, Hoyt Kyle of Ozark, Missouri, and Richard (Judy) Kyle of Louisville, Kentucky; four sisters, Anna Jean Koon of Cape Girardeau, Geraldine (Jim) Adkins of Dexter, Missouri, Virginia Ford of Cape Girardeau and Kay Strand of Arlington, Texas; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Will) Rogers, Kraig (Jin) Kyle, Lee Schlitt, Kara (Nathan) Dirnberger, Annah (Nick) Voshage and Klayton (Kelsey) Kyle; and nine great-grandchildren, Gavin, Keaton, Kailee, Liam, Cooper, Tucker, Saylor, Briley and Amelia and one more on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kelly Bain Kyle.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Brian Gill officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Make-A-Wish Foundation.
