James W. Kester, 52, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Saturday, March 13, 1948, at Cape Girardeau, the son of Walter H. and Hazel Hobbs Kester. He married Linda Niswonger on April 8, 1967, at Cape Girardeau.
He was a 1966 graduate of College High School and had worked as a service technician for Mid-South Steel in Cape Girardeau for 10 years. He had served in the National Guard from 1966-1972 and was a member of New Life World Outreach Center in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife, of Cape Girardeau; his mother, of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Gregory Kester of Festus, Mo., and Mitchell Kester of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Sheila Hahn of Advance, Mo.; and one sister, Connie Scharenborg of Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, the Rev. Zack Strong officiating. Burial will follow at Hobbs Chapel Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
