James E. "Jim" Jaco, 67, of Jackson passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 15, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, son of James J. and Lillie B. Reed Jaco. He and Anna "Marie" Lange Reeves were married April 16, 2015.

Jim was inducted into the U.S. Navy on April 10, 1968, serving two tours in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged March 29, 1970. He was a self-employed residential contractor in the Cape Girardeau/Jackson area. Jim attended Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Jackson, and had a smile for everyone he met.

Loving survivors include his wife, Marie Jaco; children, Shelly Jaco and Donald Reeves of Cape Girardeau, Nancy Hart and Rachelle (John) Norton of Shook, Missouri, Doug (Chrystal) Reeves of Olive Branch, Illinois, Angela (John) Griese of Ballwin, Missouri, and Tammy (Chad) Green of St. Peters, Missouri; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gary (Carol) Jaco of Fallon, Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Linda Hoffman; and a grandchild.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ronnie Brown officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, Jim requested memorials be made to the family.
