James "June" Hayes Jr., 90, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born July 26, 1914, in Nashville, Tenn., son of James and Lula Tellus Hayes. He and Juanita Sherwood were married Aug. 7, 1937, in Cape Girardeau. She died in November 1986...

James "June" Hayes Jr., 90, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 26, 1914, in Nashville, Tenn., son of James and Lula Tellus Hayes. He and Juanita Sherwood were married Aug. 7, 1937, in Cape Girardeau. She died in November 1986.

He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral. Hayes was a member of the Knights of Columbus 1111 in Cape Girardeau. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves from December 1954 to November 1975. He was a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center for many years.

Survivors include a sister, Mary E. Springs of Chicago, Ill.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and a sister.

There will be no visitation or funeral.

His body is being donated to Washington University Medical School in St. Louis.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
