EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for James Franklin Haley Sr. of East Prairie will be held at 10 a.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. The Rev. Richard Farquhar will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.

Haley, 59, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Aug. 30, 1938, in Charleston, son of James Franklin and Armelia Jane Fisher Haley. He and Mary Kathern Guthrie were married Nov. 16, 1959.

Haley had lived in Mississippi County all his life. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathy Johnson and Mary Ditto of East Prairie; a sister, Callie Wheatley of East Prairie; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a brother, and a grandson.
