SIKESTON -- James Howard DeWitt, 87, of Sikeston, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1992, at Miner Nursing Center.

He was born April 21, 1905, at Dogwood, son of James Louie and Dollie Mae Parker DeWitt. He and Emma Tate were married Aug. 15, 1926, at Bertrand.

DeWitt farmed 24 years, and worked in the Holiday Inn Restaurant here eight years. She was a member of Dogwood United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Amos DeWitt of Castle Rock, Colo.; three daughters, Zelma DeWitt of the home, OmaLeane Nelson and Berneda Greene of Sikeston; stepmother, Vernie DeWitt of Sikeston; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, daughter, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Norman Elledge will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
