CHAFFEE, Mo. — James Arthur Gloth, son of the late Clarence Gloth and Nancy Snider Gloth, was born Feb. 2, 1943, in Whitewater and departed his life Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, at his home in Chaffee at the age of 79 years.
He retired from Arkansas Best Freight Co. in June 2002, and was a member of the of First Baptist Church in Delta. James was chairman of Delta First Baptist Church Deacons, and a 50-year member of the Whitewater Masonic Lodge.
On June 8, 1963, he was united in marriage to Carol Sue Tackett in Chaffee. She survives of the home in Chaffee.
Besides his wife, survivors include one son, James (Erin) Gloth of Scott City; two daughters, Cindy (Donny) Bond of Kelso, Missouri, and Jammie Gloth of St. Peters, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jackson Gloth, Carly Gloth, and Lauren and Katie Bond; one great-granddaughter, Norah Sue Winchester; and several nieces.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Gloth, and two sisters, Janet Cook and Dorothy Scheper.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at First Baptist Church in Delta.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at the church, with the Rev. Randy Conn officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
