LEOPOLD, Mo. -- James "Jim" Gibbons, 86, of Leopold passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at his family home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Dec. 9, 1931, in Delta to the late Ira Richard and Mae Sarah Seabaugh Gibbons. He married Carolyn Verla Seabaugh on June 8, 1957, and she survives of the home.
Jim was a retired maintenance man for Frisco Railroad and Burlington Northern Railroad. He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Gibbons; a son, Ira (Crystal) Gibbons of Jackson; two daughters, Karen (June) Gibbons of Leopold and Kathy (Travis) Hendrix of Chaffee, Missouri; two sisters, Thelma Beckett of Cape Girardeau and Irena "Renie" Brown of Watseka, Illinois; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Dean Gibbons; a brother; three sisters; and a grandson, Joseph Scott Hendrix.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Travis Hendrix officiating. Burial will be at Kenyon Cemetery in Delta.
