James A. Furey, 83, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at Jackson Manor.
He was born Oct. 2, 1931, in Denver, son of Algernon and Mary Dolan Furey. He and Pat Smith were married Jan. 30, 1954.
James was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson. He retired from Kmart in 1993. He was an avid golfer, achieving a hole-in-one on two occasions.
Loving survivors include his wife, Pat; three sons, James (Joy) Furey of Fairview Heights, Illinois, Patrick Furey of Jackson and Tim Furey of Jacksonville, Florida; a daughter, Jennifer Furey of St. Louis; and two grandchildren, Sarah and Bryan Furey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Alice Dawe, Mary Crymes and Julianne Stearn.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, with full military honors.
