JACKSON - Business leader James F. "Jim" Moore of Jackson died Saturday, Dec. 21, 1991 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was 53.

Moore, the president of Brennecke Chevrolet in Jackson, had been a patient at the hospital for 12 days.

He was born July 13, 1938 in Cape Girardeau to Eugene and Erma Sander Moore. He married the former Dixie Gregg Feb. 12, 1960 at Gordonville.

Surviving are his wife; his father, Eugene Moore, and step-mother, Evelyn Moore, of Gordonville; sons Jeffrey J. Moore of Gordonville and Jay J. Moore of Jackson; a brother, Gary E. Moore of Farmington; sisters Judy Riehn of Gordonville and Mary Kasten of Tilsit; a step-sister, Brenda Margrabe of Gordonville; stepbrothers Darrell Ulrich of Jackson and Larry Ulrich of the state of California; and one granddaughter.

His mother preceded him in death.

He was a member of the New McKendree United Church in Jackson and served on the church's board of trustees. He was also a member of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, the Jackson Retail Merchants' Association, the Jackson Industrial Development Authority Board, Jackson Rotary, and Kimbelland Country Club. Moore served as Jackson Rotary president from 1978 to 1979 and was instrumental in starting the Monte Carlo Party, the club's largest fund raiser.

Moore started working in the service department of Brennecke Chevrolet in 1956. He worked in the parts and sales departments and as sales manager. In 1975 he bought interest in the business and in 1986 became president and dealer.

He was a member of the advisory council of the Good Neighbors Chevrolet Dealers Association, and Chevrolet's Legion of Leaders, Truck Honor Club, Society of Sales Executives, and Missouri Automobile Dealers Association. He served on the dealers association advisory board and accomplished 12 years as Service Supremacy Dealer.

Moore joined the Missouri Army National Guard in 1956. He attended Officers Candidate School in 1968 and graduated as a second lieutenant. Moore became company commander of the A Company 1140th Combat Engineer Battalion, retiring in 1975 as a captain.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. O. Otto Steinhaus will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion United Methodist Cemetery at Gordonville.

Friends may call today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 2 until 8 p.m. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Monday.
