CHAFFEE -- James D. Evans, 50, of Amarillo, Texas, died Saturday, April 19, 1997, in an automobile accident near Amarillo.
He was born Feb. 20, 1947, in St. Louis, son of Ottis Walter and Norma Lee Jones Evans Sr.
Evans was a welder. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include four sons, Jeffrey Evans of Oklahoma City, Okla., James Evans of Salt Lake City, Utah, James Jr. and Shane Evans of Marble Hill; a stepson, Buddy Walker of New Jersey; two stepdaughters, Carol Laxton of Marble Hill, Robin Walker of New Jersey; his mother of Chaffee; two brothers, Ottis Evans Jr. of High Ridge, Jerry Evans of Chaffee; two grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Union Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts officiating.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.
