Memorial service for James Carl Estes of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Cape Girardeau, will be held at 10 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church in Edmond, Okla. The Rev. Dale Depew will officiate.

Estes, 63, died Tuesday, April 2, 1996, at his home.

He was born Sept. 13, 1932, in St. Louis, son of Robert J. and Lowetta Estes.

Estes attended Riverside Junior College in Riverside, Calif., and Kansas University.

He was an insurance salesman in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of First Christian Church, Elks Lodge, American Legion Post, and SEMO Boosters Club. He coached youth baseball teams and men's and women's softball teams. Estes served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Survivors include three sons, David and Dan Estes of St. Louis, Dick Estes of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Sandy Hastings of Jackson; a sister, Joy Cole of El Paso, Texas, and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a twin brother.
